State police were called to the Giant at 7150 Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie on Wednesday, April 19 for reported food tampering, they said in a release.
A customer had come to return items after buying them and discovering the needles, authorities wrote. The affected items, troopers said, included bagged vegetables and "individual Tastykake packaging."
State police are now recommending that anyone who bought groceries at the store between Thursday, April 13, and Wednesday, April 19 check their items for signs of tampering.
The name of the accused juvenile was not reported.
